Version 2.50
There are numerous code changes and small bug fixes in this
release - far too many to mention, however, here are some:
- File comments code rewritten (again)...
- Folder comments feature added
- The cataloguing process crashes more gracefully when it
encounters a bad file
- Now retains the old disk if an update process is
cancelled
- Default search mode changed to "part of name"
- Bad config file code slightly improved
- Sizes of text fields on disk info window, and text file
reports altered
- Bug fixed in disk info window
(occured when a disk is updated)
- GUI and background code for file filtering rewritten -
much better now
- Printing errors handled slightly better (also fixed
problem where cancel sometimes didn't work)
Version 2.40
- Option to search within folder names added
- When renaming a disk, original name appears for editing
- Fixed link to web site
- New button on print dialogue, this makes it slightly
easier to print more than one disk
- Disk lists on the print dialogue are now sorted
- Feature added to export catalogue to human readable text
files
- Fixed bug with double clicking on search window
- Toobar images fixed for non-standard colour schemes
- Search code overhauled, now much faster. Here are some
rough estimations of speed increase:
- Whole filename - a touch faster
- Folder name - 3 times faster (than the code which didn't
get released anyway)
- Start of filename - nearly 2 times faster
- File extension - a touch faster
- File comments - nearly 2 times faster
- Anywhere within file name - 7-9 times faster
Version 2.30
- Copying files from the catalogue that were not in the
root directory did not work
- Disk information screen crashed if data on disk added up
to more than 2 gigabytes
- Bug fix and more logical way of entering file comments
- Bug fixes with running files out of the catalogue
- Directories in the left pane are now alphabetically
sorted. Bear in mind that this is done at cataloguing time,
not display time. To see contents of disks already
catalogued in alphabetical order you will need to
recatalogue the disk
- Various code streamlining and changes to try and fix
some rare memory problems when starting EZ Cat 2
- More information columns added to search results
- Added "update disk?" prompts if the catalogue
is found not to be in sync with the actual contents of the
disk
Version 2.20
- This is mainly a bug-fix release which I hope will kill
any further comma related problems. Commas in filenames are
no longer converted to underscores, commas in directory
names no longer affect search results, commas in file
comments are no longer converted to underscores.
- I have made minor cosmetic changes to the options
screen, Add A Disk screen, etc.
- It is now much easier to update a disk. If you choose
update from the Add A Disk screen it fills in the details
for you; option added to right mouse menu and
"Disk" menu to update a disk.
Version 2.10
Thank you if you sent me bug reports. Here is a complete
list of what was wrong with 2.00, and new features, in no
particular order:
- The printing form was not exclusive; you could swap back
to the main program and then lose the window.
- There is now a margin on the printouts so you can punch
holes in them
- Now catalogues hidden/system directories
- Search in file comments option added
- The program does not need to know what version of
Windows is being used any longer -consequently the program
now does not need sysinfo.ocx. (If you're upgrading I
wouldn't suggest you go and delete this file, there may be
other programs using it!)
- The search dialogue would sometimes change the search
type if you pressed enter instead of using the mouse
- Slight incompatibilities with programs that allow
Windows to see zip files as folders fixed
- Search window is now resizable
- Searches are now sortable
- Search results are now persistant. This means that after
performing a search and going back to the program, if you
open the search window again the same results are still
present. This does not prevent you from doing a new search
or anything..
- Sorting the main screen will now sort ascending first
- Running programs from the catalogue has been improved
- Web links now run your web browser
- Did I write file type screening for nothing?! Nobody
spotted that if you put an extension in, and it then finds a
file with that extension, no more files are added to the
disk in the catalogue! Anyway, it's fixed.....
